Dr. Susan Strain

Dr. Susan is a 1984 graduate of LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. She received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Arkansas in Domestic Animal Biology. Her interests are soft tissue and cosmetic surgery, as well as dermatology and preventative medicine. She is married to Dr. Mike Strain, veterinarian and Louisiana’s Commissioner of Agriculture & Forestry. Together they have 2 children, Michael & Melissa. They have a cat and a Rottweiler named Rudy. In her spare time she likes to cross-stitch, read, & watch movies.

Dr. Tommi Pugh

Dr. Tommi is a 1984 graduate of LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. Her interests include diagnostic & preventative medicine, soft tissue surgery, and geriatric medicine. She is married with 3 children; Rachel, Rebecca, & Andrew. She has 3 cats, 1 dog, 1 bird, and various reptiles. In her spare time she likes to read, crochet, and travel.

Dr. Chalyn Fayard

Dr. Fayard is a native of Denham Springs, Louisiana and a graduate of the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine in Glasgow, Scotland. Her areas of interest include dermatology, behavior and wildlife medicine. She is also a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist and uses Chinese Veterinary Herbal therapy. Dr. Chalyn also sees 'exotic pets' including spay/neuter surgeries for pet rabbits, nail and wing trimming for birds, and the occasional reptile. She and her partner share their home with their son Oliver as well as dogs, cats, chickens, a Sun Conure, and two African Sulcata tortoises. When not at work Dr. Chalyn loves to read, garden, travel and knit.

Dr. Laura Meaux

Dr. Meaux is a 2001 graduate of Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Originally from Metarie, she moved to the North Shore after veterinary school to be close to family and to live in the 'country'. Dr. Laura's primary interests are feline medicine and surgery, soft tissue surgery, and caring for pets in their golden years. She is married and has one two-legged child, Amanda, plus the four-legged children that have taken over her home. In her spare time she likes to read, decorate cakes, and volunteer in the community.

Dr. Jessica Vinterella

Dr. Jess is a native of Mandeville, Louisiana and is a recent graduate of Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. She received a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences with a Minor in Spanish from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2010. Her interests include nutrition, preventative medicine, as well as companion exotic animal medicine. She is married and has 2 dogs, 2 cats, and an African Sulcata Tortoise. In her free time she likes to cook, shop, and do yoga.

Jenn Memleb

Jenn has worked for CHVH since she was a high school student and has used this time to learn how to fill many roles. She is currently a student at Southeastern Louisiana University studying microbiology. Jenn plans to attend medical school and possibly become a forensic pathologist. She has five cats who are all adopted.

Danielle Poirier

Danielle has worked for CHVH for over 18 years. She and her husband have one son, Andrew, as well as 8 cats, 2 dogs, a ferret, a bearded dragon, and an African Sulcata tortoise.

Lauren Gable

Lauren is Registered Veterinary Technician. She is a Florida Native who now lives on the Southshore with her boyfriend and two cats adopted from CHVH.

Kate Lytle

Kate has recently joined the staff here at CHVH, though she has worked as a veterinary assistant for several other vets. She has three children at home as well as one dog, a cat, a rabbit, and a guinea pig.

Victoria Beasley

Victoria has 4 dogs, 1 cat, and a tarantula. Horses are her passion but she loves all animals. She has 2 children a girl and a boy. Victoria will be pursuing her career in the veterinary field to become a veterinarian in the future for large animals.

Receptionists

Claudine Hill

Claudine and her husband have an 8 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. They have a house full of dogs, cats, and horses, and recently moved into their new house.

Savannah Jenkins

Savannah is a lifelong resident of Covington, and has worked at Claiborne Hill for over three years. She has two daughters, and a son.

Lucy (Clinic Mascot)

Lucy is a large, brown tabby cat. Her interests are sleeping; eating treats; and hiding toys, pens, and syringes under the shelves!

Sushi

Sushi is a blue-point Siamese who had one of her rear legs amputated after being attacked by a dog. She enjoys keeping our chairs warm by sleeping on them and chasing after "Lucy's" toys.

Melisa Michel

Melisa is the mother of five beautiful children and also two dogs, a cat, and parrotlet. She has worked at CHVH for over three years and loves all of our regular boarders.
